Hero and Villain Squares - Lining the back and the final edging

For this part I used a double layer of black polar fleece. I cut the two layers to the current size of the blanket. For the first layer, at each of the corners of the squares in the blanket I secured with a single stitch and knot of cotton thread.

For the second part I pinned both layers on the back and secured it on using the method in the YouTube tutorial by Yarn Andy.

She also has a blog outlining the process

https://yarnandy.com/how-to-add-backing-to-crochet-blankets/

I used a 2.5mm hook and black 8 ply yarn to start the edge along the fleece. Then switched to 4mm hook when connecting the blanket and the fleece using single crochets instead of slip stitches around the entire blanket, and using (2 sc, 3 ch, 2sc) in each corner.

For the next round I did the same in blue, but skip every second sc for a chain.

For the last round I went back to black, put two sc in each gap and used (2 sc, 1ch, 2sc) in each corner.

Then sew in any loose threads and see the final product in the next post ☺️
