Here goes...
White, black, light blue, yellow, red and teal blue 8ply yarn, 4.00mm hook 

Note: if you prefer the movie style mystique instead of the animated series mystique, swap the teal blue for a brighter blue.

Work in rounds

In teal blue...
Ch2
1. 12 dc into second chain from hook 
(12) sl st to join ch 1
2. dc inc x 12 (24) sl st to join
3. (dc inc, dc) x12 (36) sl st to join ch 1
In light blue ch1 to join...
4. (dc inc, 2 dc) x12 (48) sl st to join ch 1
In white ch1 to join...
5. dc 3 inc (3in1), hdc, 8 sc (hdc, dc inc, ch 1, dc inc, hdc, 8sc)x3. hdc, dc (56). sl st to join ch 1
6. dc, ((2dc, ch, 2dc) in next stitch, 13 dc, )x3, (2dc, ch, 2dc) in next stitch, 12 dc (64) sl st to join.

Finish off. Weave in ends.


Eyes and hair appliques


Hair

In red...

Work in rows

Ch16 x 2, 1 for each side.
Ch18 x 2, 1 for each side.
Ch20 x 2, 1 for each side.

Leave long threads for sewing.

Pull the appliques to fit the hair shape as needed while sewing on. Longer chains start at the top of the part, top of the head, shorter start at the bottom.

Stitch a yellow spot in the part of mystiques hair.

Stitch in yellow

Eyebrows 

Stitch in black

Mouth

Stitch in red

We are poison to you Spider-Man, that's why we call us Venom!

I suppose it would be common for other toddlers to have a superhero obsession similar to my own two-year-old son. One of his favourite activities is picking a super hero and a super villain, assigning one of each of those roles to himself and a parent, enforcing dress up, and enacting an elaborate play fight based on the characters. I prefer to help out with the dress up part by making these costumes rather than buying them; the amount of superheroes and villains he chooses between would render me bankrupt if I made them all available! So soon enough, Venom was the project on my agenda and the main part was the beanie/mask. It was a "make it up as you go along" crochet project and so I wrote it down as I went along. Both my son and myself were happy with the final product.
